Lucien Levy was a supervesior and also an engineer at the “Mircea Cantacuzino” School of Aviation. He was a close friend of the Cantacuzino family, witness being the family’s photo album from Ioana Cantacuzino’s personal archive.
In 1929, Mircea Cantacuzino leaves, together with 5 pilots trained by him, to bring 3 new light aircrafts from Germany. These planes flew on the itinerary Stuttgart – Prague – Lemberg – Chernivtsi – Bucharest and have been piloted by Mircea Cantacuzino, Ioana Cantacuzino, Constantin Sidery, Lucian Levy, Ionel Cociașu și Nicolae Poulieff, performing an achievement managing the first flight in formation of the Romanian tourism aviation. They held the Romanian flag on a total distance of 2300 km.
On May 20th, 1930, Lucien Levy becomes the school’s supervisor. He starts with a series of nine students three of which take their pilot licence issued by His Royal Highness King Michael.
He takes part in the Sokol celebrations (Belgrade) flying Ioana Cantacuzino’s plane together with Ionel Cociașu. With this occasion they have been enrolled as members of the Yugoslav Air Club. On their way back, they attended the air show in Timisoara, arriving back to Bucharest through Brasov.
